My Story

I am traversing the 100km MacLehose Trail, in support of the Gurkha Cemeteries Trust.

My aim is to raise awareness of the exceptional work done by the Trust and help them raise HK$10,000.

The Gurkha Cemeteries Trust is a non-profit charitable organization. The objective of the Trust is to establish a non-profit-making educational and community institute to promote Gurkha culture, history and values in Hong Kong. The Trust also helps to maintain Gurkha cemeteries and heritage in Hong Kong.

Gurkha's have 208 years of loyalty to the British crown and have served throughout the world both during wartime and peace.

Gurkha's have strong history in Hong Kong where they were based at and protected the border from illegal immigrants and drug-trafficking whilst providing stability amidst the unrest between 1948 and 1997. They have a major contribution towards safeguarding this tiny island through most of the 20th century. Their significance must be remembered and honoured in the present times.

This is where the Gurkha Cemeteries Trust comes into action. They are working on preserving Gurkha history and promote our culture in Hong Kong.

Gurkha's initiated long distance trails to train in the back-country of Hong Kong which later expanded and was opened to civilians in the late 80's, the MacLehose Trail, 100km in length traversing East to West across unforgiving hills of the New Territories.

This is the Original Trail walker.
