Many of the preventable illnesses suffered by children are symptoms of this deep-rooted poverty: everything from lack of decent shelter, clean water and nutritious food make it difficult for children to thrive. A team of DFS staff from Hong Kong and Siem Reap are taking part in the Angkor Wat Half Marathon on Sunday 2nd December to raise money for Angkor Hospital for Children, an amazing charity on the doorstep of T Galleria Angkor. We are the Non-Medical staff at AHC and we work in Finance, Purchasing, Logistics, House Keeping, Security, IT, HR, Maintenance and Registration. We do not provide direct care to patients but we are behind the scenes in all aspects of the hospital, every single day. We know how important it is that medical supplies are on hand, that the ventilators are working properly, the floors are cleaned and the right patient file is ready for the appointment. We work tirelessly to make sure the hospital is clean, and that hygiene standards are maintained. We guard the gates to make sure the children are safe and queues are orderly. We make sure the electricity is on and the water is running otherwise so many other parts of the hospital just do not work! AHC treats around 500 patients every day and last year provided over 160,000 treatments. Help us make our miles count this year and sponsor our team’s Get Active fundraising challenge.
