This year some of our team will be running the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon to support the Angkor Hospital for Children. AHC is one of the few paediatric hospitals in Cambodia, providing quality, compassionate care to Cambodian children, completely free of charge. Aiming to improve healthcare for all of Cambodia’s children, ensuring all children have access to excellent treatment and facilities and by training medical staff across the country to the highest standards of medical care. AHC rely entirely on fundraising to keep the hospital running… what better reason for us to put on our running shoes?!
Team Henderson is getting ready to take on the marathon challenge, running distances of 10km and the full 21km Half Marathon. Over the weekend, they will be racing through the historic UNESCO Heritage site of the Angkor Wat Temple Complex before completing their marathon challenge.
Your Support Matters: Although the standard of living is steadily improving, Cambodians continue to suffer from endemic poverty. Many of the preventable illnesses we see on a daily basis at AHC are symptoms of deep-rooted poverty: everything from lack of decent shelter, scarcity of clean water, or lack of nutritious food and sanitation all contributes to the illnesses that our patients’ experience. At AHC, $50 will pay the care of three patients within the OPD (Outpatient Department). $100 covers the cost of six physiotherapy sessions for patients suffering from chronic diseases such as cerebral palsy or post-surgical rehabilitation. $150 will pay for food supplies for 75 homecare patients and their families for one week and, $250 covers the cost for one premature baby’s care in the Neonatal Unit for one day. Every donation, no matter how big or small really does count!
