HEYYY!!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My name is Lim Sze Wei and I will be taking part in the MAKNA Jom Botak : Trek For Cancer 2012 campaign. This is a fundraising project that aims to raise funds for financially challenged cancer patients
"Jom Botak" directly translated into English means "Let's Go Bald". And YES!! I will shave my head bald IF I can achieve my target of RM5000 by August 8th.
Before you jump into any conclusion on the severity of my mental state, I assure you that I am mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually fit.
This might sound crazy and bizarre for I really do love the current length of my hair (18 inches or more). The process of taming and nurturing these locks weren’t easy and it was painstaking, not to mention the amount of money and time spent on it. I have never had such long hair; this is the longest record in my life.
However, upon discussion with a friend of mine, I am convinced that me going bald will bring more impact to this donation appeal. The visual impact of someone with long locks going bald will bring about a more meaningful value to this fundraising campaign.
I'm doing this because I truly believe in the GIFT of LIFE. I believe that human life is fragile, brief but yet it is a blessing. I am blessed with a good family, good friends, good education and good opportunities. I have benefited vastly from the kindness of the society.
There are many individuals who are suffering physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. They are in need of love, care and hope. One such example are cancer patients. Cancer is a very paralysing disease. I have seen close relatives and friends withering away and agonizingly slipping off from life to death. It is a traumatic process on both patient and loved ones.
Matters are made worse if financial constraints were to prevent them from seeking necessary treatment. And I’m glad that NGOs such as MAKNA is doing great work in raising this awareness.
If shaving my locks is what it takes to raise RM5000 for MAKNA, why not? My hair can grow, but one cannot “grow” life.
It is a wonderful opportunity: meaningful, impactful and at the same time fun. I'm glad I have another year to go in uni, because I have another year to do something as crazy as this.
Please dig deep into the core of your hearts, and also pockets :)
Every little bit counts!
I would also appreciate this if you could forward this to friends who care and you think would donate.
Let's all be beacons of hope. We are blessed with this life, let's bless others with the gift of life!
Thank you!
Yours Sincerely,
Sze Wei
