Why They Need Your Help
The children receive no help from the Nepalese government and are completely reliant on the occasional donation to support a family of 35. They have no financial security and only very limited resources which leaves them extremely vulnerable in states of emergency. Last year, their water filtration system broke down which left them drinking unclean water. These children understand a better education is essential for them to be independent and to stand on their own two feet. Therefore, they give their education their all. Recently, the younger children received their school test results – from kindergarten to grade 7, all the children at their school who came in first place were from Mountain Home. This is no small feat, given all the odds stacked against them. With just a little help from you, they can unlock their full potential to achieve great things.
Goals:
We are setting a starting goal of HKD 100 000, but we hope to far exceed this initial target.
- HKD 77 000: A new English teacher: Traveling to-and-from Mountain Home is difficult, and the distance has stunted the learning opportunities of the children there. Despite only being taught a basic level of English – limited to introducing themselves and asking simple questions – they have been given textbooks in English for most subjects. Therefore, not receiving help to improve their English not only affects their English language, but their ability to learn and understand all subjects.
- HKD 23 000: Five new computers, webcams and mics: These will allow the children and teenagers of Mountain Home to pursue their own education, opening up a new world of information and skills – including free online classes.
