My Story

Out of sheer boredom (and obvious stupidity) I will be rowing solo 45km+ around Hong Kong Island on November 21.  I’ve done this once before in a double, and swore to never do it again because it was so painful and draining.  Last time it took about 5hrs and my goal this year is to try and get as close to that time as possible, but on my own.  I figured since the opportunity to do it solo was on offer, I might as well do it for a good cause.

To that end, I am fundraising for Mother’s Choice - a charity that has helped countless children find a home and countless young women plan out their lives. With their help some of our friends have adopted children, improving lives all around.  At any point in time, over 4,000 kids in Hong Kong are living in institutional care. Another 4,000 are separated from their families. And every year there are nearly 7,000 crisis pregnancies.  The team at Mother’s Choice pour their hearts, souls and lives into helping these children and women and they need our help.

Mother’s Choice is a local charity serving the many children without families and pregnant teenagers in Hong Kong. We join hands with our community to give hope and change the life stories of vulnerable girls and babies. Our vision is to see every child in a loving family.

Each year, thousands of teenage girls face crisis pregnancy with no support, and thousands of children are in need of a family for a number of reasons including neglect, abuse, abandonment, or family breakdown. We’re here to help the most vulnerable in our community by providing high-quality services for children, youth and families, and actively providing ways to prevent the problem.
