Why Should We Protect Nature?
With Earth Hour, which took place at 8:30pm on 26 March 2022, fresh in our minds, let’s continue to #Connect2Earth and take action to protect nature.
Did you know that wildlife are key to a healthy forest ecosystem, which we need for clean air, fresh water, climate change mitigation and recreation?
Bornean orangutans play a vital role in seed dispersal and in maintaining the health of forests
When Bornean elephants eat, they create gaps in the vegetation. These gaps allow new plants to grow and create pathways for other smaller animals to use. They are also one of the major ways in which trees disperse their seeds.
As an apex predator, Malayan tigers keep populations of prey species in check, which in turn maintains the balance in the ecosystem.
Sadly, iconic wildlife such as Malayan tigers, Bornean orangutans and Bornean elephants are threatened by poaching, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict.
Your generous donation will help enable WWF-Malaysia’s efforts to save wildlife, which include:
• Studying and monitoring wildlife to obtain data that will enable government agencies and conservationists to better protect them
• Anti-poaching patrols
• Advocate better wildlife protection laws as well as the establishment of protected areas
• Reforestation efforts
• Education and community outreach programmes enabling peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife
Thank you so much for your important contribution to help protect nature, which is vital for our survival, comfort and prosperity.
