Campaign Overview
Fatima Gobi Ventures (FGV) is fundraising for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to support its medical response in Pakistan.
The funds will predominantly be used in the Sindh Province where there is an urgent need for clean drinking water, hygiene kits and medical care to treat increasing skin infections as well as waterborne and vector-borne diseases.
FGV’s partnership with Doctors Without Borders is part of the firm’s charity and community outreach under the #GobiCares initiative and has committed US$5,000 in support.
Pakistan’s Devastating Floods
The heavy monsoon rains that started in June 2022 have caused the deaths of over 1,700 people thus far and displaced over 33 million more. The record-breaking heavy monsoon rains have caused catastrophic damages, leading to an ongoing large-scale humanitarian crisis. From hilly areas to plains, the flooding has inundated all four provinces of Pakistan and washed away houses, infrastructure, crops and livestock.
Although rainfall has significantly reduced in September and October and the water levels are slowly receding, many of the villages are still flooded and most of those who have been displaced are not able to return to their homes.
The need for clean drinking water remains urgent as water sources are heavily contaminated whilst food security and malnutrition of the displaced people remain to be major causes for concern as crops and livestock have been largely destroyed by the floods.
How are we helping?
All funds raised through this campaign will be channelled towards the worst flood-hit province of Sindh, where humanitarian needs are still massive weeks after the start of the emergency.
Your generous donation will be used to support this ongoing work and help save lives.
