Women make up two-thirds of the world’s poorest people. In every part of the developing world, women are spending most of their effort in finding water and fuel wood for preparation of food. In rural areas, women are often responsible for the care of livestock and crops but rarely own them. They are also been deprived from education and gender equality. A lot of help is required to empower women to ensure a quality and self-sustainable life for them and their family.
TECH Outreach being a Non-Governmental Organization is headed by Dr Selvamalar Ayadurai in Malaysia fights for the cause to empower women by providing microfinance loans for them to build small businesses for a self-sustainable lifestyle.
In July 2013, we have embarked to fund 2 pilot projects in Nepal in collaboration with Rural Women’s Network Nepal (RUWON) Organization. Our commitment was to fund 60 women in Kathmandu Valley and Sindhuli (remote villages). While implementation of the micro credit financing system is our strength, funds for initiating the business ventures for the women remains a challenge. We have successfully selected and funded 17 women from Kathmandu Valley in August 2013 for businesses such as tailoring, grocery shops, handcrafts and teashops. We now seek FUNDS for the covered costs and also additional 43 women from Kathmandu and Sindhuli to be launched in November 2013. We need to raise RM 106,500 to enable us to continue with this project.
Below is the breakdown of the RM 106,500 funds required to aid the women in Nepal:
Disbursement to 17 women in Nepal and ground expenses (expenses already incurred): RM 30,000.00
Disbursement to another 43 women (RM1500.00 x 43): RM 64,500.00
Ground expenses for Nov and Feb 2014 to monitor the project: RM 12,000.00
