Mercy Relief is responding to the latest earthquake in Ludian, Yunnan Province -- and we need your help!
More than 1 million people have been affected, and survivors require emergency supplies such as food, blankets and medicine. Our first relief team has already been deployed to disburse an initial tranche of S$30,000 to benefit approximately 2,500 people. Each family will receive a relief pack containing 25kg of rice, 5l of vegetable oil, 1 blanket and some medicine. This is able to last a family of 5 for at least 10 days.
The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck on August 3 (Sunday). More than 600 people have died, almost 3,000 injured and about 230,000 people have been evacuated.
Mercy Relief has been an ongoing responder to earthquakes in China. From 2008 to 2013, we disbursed over S$2 million in aid in response to four earthquakes in China, including the devastating Sichuan and Gansu earthquakes.
Mercy Relief's scope and scale of assistance depends on the support it gets from the public. No amount is too small to make a difference!
