Who we are
We're Orange Level (P6) students at JEMS and are fundraising for a local charity in Hong Kong, YWAM Tuen Mun.
Why we care
In the months of April, May, and June, we have been focusing on learning about the topic of poverty and learned that it is a very severe issue that people should be aware of. We learned that poverty is a very complex issue that involves being able to help someone meet their material, emotional, and relational needs.
Our solutions
We hope to raise awareness as well as encourage others to first build a relationship to empathise and learn what the needs of others are before helping them. We believe that building a relationship with others helps us know people more.
Who we want to support and why - YWAM Tuen Mun
YWAM Tuen Mun is a local charity in Hong Kong focusing on bringing joy to at-risk elderly living in Tuen Mun through building a relationship and helping to meet their material, emotional, and relational needs.
Our fundraising goal
We want to raise HK$10,000 to help YWAM Tuen Mun in their efforts to prepare Covid-19 relief packs that will be distributed to cardboard collectors around our city.
More about our other projects
JEMS Character Academy was founded in 2009 and is an after-school learning centre with a vision to see children become junior excellent members of society. With a belief that education goes beyond transferring knowledge and skills, JEMS provides children with Character Education programmes throughout the year. As a part of encouraging students to give back to the community, it is JEMS' hope that students will grow in their empathy and compassion for different needs in our city through the unique JEMS curriculum where students are encouraged to make a difference in the lives of others. As a result, students across various school levels have chosen to start a campaign to fundraise for different charities that help and support some of the needs in Hong Kong.
