The same time last year, I created a fundraiser so we could still celebrate my birthday together, somehow. Another birthday is coming to pass which means this has gone on for too long and many of us may be experiencing anxiety that has taken a toll on our mental health, our relationships, our lives. These past months have been really hard for us adults. How much more for children and young people who do not have the support that they need. With school closures, physical distancing measures and decreased access to services, there are children and teens who may be living with neglect, abuse and bullying, both online and offline.

This campaign reminded me that love has sustained me. Learning to love myself, receiving love from others, and loving others is what has got me through these tough times. I am sincerely hoping it is the same for you guys. Empowered by the love and kindness of those around me, I will continue to LOVE MYSELF and let that love shine brighter by LOVING OTHERS. Let me be your bridge again to spread love.

For my birthday fundraiser this year, I would like to inspire you by sharing the story of BTS joining hands with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to stage campaigns against violence toward children and teens around the world, with the hope of making the world a better place through music. BTS and Big Hit recently renewed their commitment to the “LOVE MYSELF” campaign to support UNICEF in ending violence and neglect as well as promoting self-esteem and well-being. BTS also shared a virtual message pledging to continue its “LOVE MYSELF” campaign, with its ambition of love and togetherness, particularly at this time of social isolation. I am sharing the link to the press release from UNICEF and BTS’ video below to share the inspiration with all of you.

Please join me in supporting the #LOVEMYSELF campaign to help #ENDviolence toward Filipino children and teens. Funds we will raise this year will help fund UNICEF Philippines’ programs that will help prevent and respond to the risks of violence against children in the Philippines.
