Meraki Daat Initiative, is a Non Profit, Non-Government Organization officially chartered on 12 July 2022 with the Register of Societies in Malaysia. Meraki Daat aims to create and support lasting, local solutions where possible for self-sustainability while advocating for environmental preservation for the water villages. Activities include creating awareness, providing education and source for solutions where possible on proper waste management to preserve the environment as well as create and provide education on proper fishing methods where applicable while generating other sources of sustainable income such as (but not limited to) eco tourism.
Current on going projects are creating a circular economy and waste collection at Gaya Island, Kota Kinabalu Sabah, Coral Planting, Underwater clean up and Environmental Education in various islands in West Malaysia including Tioman, Langkawi and Penang.
