Malaysia went into a Covid-19 lockdown back in March 2020. Busy Boarders have been actively feeding the stray animal community particularly in Petaling Jaya area as the lockdown restricted us from moving to other areas. We targeted areas specifically where the food stalls and wholesale markets were positive with Covid-19 cases. Because these areas were positive, humans stayed away and the stray animals were left to fend for food for themselves.
We have since fed hundreds of cats, dogs, including wild monkeys who came out from their hiding spots to look for food. While feeding, we discovered many strays who were injured and needed serious medical attention. The public had also started dumping newborn kittens at the markets and we had to immediately rescue them so the wild dogs and rats don't get to them. Here too, we discovered a huge number of pets that were abandoned in the markets who were not street smart and were frantically looking for their owners and some were in terrible conditions as fleas and ticks infested them.
We have since rescued over 30 animals from these places so they can get proper medical care, food and comfort. Some were terrified of us because we were unfamiliar and some who were found in the drains, did not make it as they were infested with all kinds of virus namely FIP which up to date there is no cure.
Some of the baby monkeys we fed were also badly injured, their limbs barely holding on. With all the above, we had to reach deep into our pockets as our vet bills and food bills sky rocketed. We have since successfully re-homed few of our strays and more to come as they recover from their illness. Do follow us on our IG handle at @busyboardersmy for more rescue stories. We are deeply grateful for all your support.

i encourage cat owners to please neuter your cats. Tolonglah mandulkan kucing peliharaan anda. Then we can reduce the population of abandoned kittens. It is the kindest thing we can do. Don't let any more kittens suffer and die on the streets. Thanks. Please contribute to people who are making the effort. Like Busyboarders.
