What are we doing?

 In support of the Save The Children’s “Heroes from Home” campaign, we would like to be a part of their initiative called Project A.R.A.L. (Access to Resources and Alternatives Learning) which aims to provide children with quality alternative learning experiences despite the pandemic.

Our mission:

“Help the kids of today aim for tomorrow”.

Project ARAL’s Objective:

• Provide the kids with alternative learning experience

• Guide parents/caregivers to provide these learnings

• Influence the government to support effective alternative learning methods for children and their families

Outcome:

A basic learning kit per child costs only 3,750 pesos and they will receive:

• Smartphones/tablet to access online resources

• Learning materials

• Parents will have the guidance and be trained on how to teach their kids at home

Why?

 During the COVID-19 pandemic, access to education has become a little bit more far fetched especially for kids that have limited resources, what more now that it has turned into online learning? The pressure has now been transferred to the parents who have been relying on the teachers to help guide their kids and receive top quality education. Furthermore, enrolment rates have gone down drastically; in the Mindanao region alone, there is only a 30% enrolment rate and in the National Capital Region (NCR) there is 80% as opposed to the last year figures. Through this project, we aim to help children continue their studies through alternative learning methods despite the situation and continue following their aspirations.

How

 To celebrate ‘Buwan ng Wika’ (month of Filipino language and culture) we would like to raise funds for these kids by asking donations and as well as hosting a two day live streaming event via KUMU app on the 29th and 30th August 2020 (9pm to 12am) hosted by Jeri Vega Oro.

 Within this streaming event audiences will be able to give virtual gifts and join in the fun with our team streamers and play Filipino Games such as Pinoy Henyo and Charades. For our last day, we have an exciting lineup of artists and local poets to showcase talent and celebrate our culture!

*Update* 26/08/2020- Due to overwhelming support, we have moved the target goal for this fundraising event to PHP 75,000.00. This is so this Simply Giving page does not close when we reach our PHP 50,000.00  goal. Again, we cannot thank you enough for your support and let us help more children continue the education they started!

*Update* 28/08/2020- Thank you very much for your continued support! we have now reached  PHP 65,00.00 because your help. Like the previous update, we would just want to move the goal now to PHP 100,000 to make sure others who still want to do so can. If we hit the target, there is a possibility that this fundraiser page closes. We hope to keep this page open even after the 2 day Kumu event that would be held tomorrow and Sunday, 9.00 pm to 12.00 am. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and willingness to help.
