My Story

On the 10th of June, 2023, Sunitha Balakrishnan passed away after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Sunitha - Sunu, to those who loved her - was a ray of sunshine that lit up every room she walked into. From the moment she was first diagnosed in 2018, she was determined to do all she could to educate those around her about cancer, empower, and lift up the cancer community here in Malaysia. Sunu was also a mother and a teacher, and her passion and love for children was clear to anyone who knew her.
Sunu would have turned 50 years old this year. In honor of her, we - her family - would like to raise funds over the next month leading up to her birthday, all of which will be donated to the National Cancer Society Malaysia, in aid of The Children's Home of Hope. The Children's Home of Hope is a branch of the National Cancer Society Malaysia that provides aid for children and families facing childhood cancer. If you are able, please join us in our journey of spreading Sunu's Light a little further. We hope that the funds raised will be able to ease the difficulties of cancer fighters and their families, and bring hope for brighter days to come.
