Hello Everyone Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This year in May, I have signed up to do my first Half-marathon. I have never been a runner but started to run regularly just over an year ago. The CocaCola Long Run of 2013 was my first event and since then I have kept running regularly. At the time I started, I could barely complete a 3Km run in 30 mins. However, today, challenging for a half-marathon is a big achievement. I want to dedicate this run to those who are suffering from cancer in the Maldives. Though is a small way, if I can raise a little help for those, then my run becomes even more rewarding and fulfilling then making a great time over the finish line. I will be taking part in Coca-Cola LONG RUN 2014 in 16/05/2014 and aiming to raise money for Cancer Society of Maldives. I am a stronger believer that early detection of cancer can greatly improves the odds of successful treatment and survival. However, in order to that our community need to be made aware of cancer; how to detect it, treatments available etc. In 2011 I had a close encounter with cancer it was not me, but a member of my family. By the grace of God that person survived, due to early detection and resources to fight it, and now he is healthy and cancer free. It was the most difficult time of my life; my world will not be the same if the outcomes didn’t turn out like it did. So I am going to run to remind myself how blessed I am and to try and make a difference for someone else to light up their world by raising funds Please dig deep and donate, every little counts! Hi, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. I am taking up a major challenge in the Coca-Cola LONG RUN 2014, organised by Total Fitness Group (TfG) of the Maldives on 16th May 2014. Challenging to raise more than $15,000 to help Utheemu United. And this is where I need all your help, and all your support. Bare with me as I explain you why I have chosen “Utheem United” HA. Utheem is an island of more than 800 people. Lovely people whom I have met, but sadly, most of them need some kind of attention. More than 77% of people have a high FAT %, more than 66% with high BMI, 18% or more with high cholesterol, and there are many more serious indicators including high BP and heart disease. High elevation of BMI & body fat% makes this population at high risk of developing T2DM (Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus). I am challenging to raise funds to help the beautiful citizens of HA. Utheem become more aware of their health. Start a healthy lifestyle and ensure that they can be fit and run marathons such as these. Hopefully see more people from HA. Hi Everyone, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. On May 16, I will be taking part in Coca-Cola LONG RUN 2014 aiming to raise money for Care Society. Care Society is an NGO in the Maldives that aims to address the needs of the disabled. Its work includes creating awareness, conducting training programs on disability management, conducting community based rehabilitation for people with disabilities and operating the Care Development Center. Care Development Center (CDC) is the only private school for children with disabilities in the Maldives. It caters for those children who do not have a chance to enroll in the public school system. Throughout the past couple of years, CDC has faced significant funding constraints and have continually been on the verge of shutting down.
