SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS (SLE)

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) or Lupus in short, is an auto-immune disease that causes the immune system to attack healthy tissue. This produces inflammation in different parts of the body resulting in pain and swelling. Lupus can also affect the skin, heart, lungs, nervous system, kidneys and blood and in particular the immune system. Patients may be severe enough to require kidney dialysis and some die if the illness is not well controlled.

Lupus Association (Singapore) formed in 1991, is a self-help group dedicated to support lupus patients and their care-givers by providing practical support, patient education and the opportunity to share experiences with fellow lupus patients.

Lupus Association (Singapore) celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2016, marking the significant milestone with the launching of a commemorative book “On Wings of Love”. The book is a central feature of our historical chapters and a tribute to our founding members. Most importantly, it signifies both the struggles and resilience of lupus patients.

We are selling “On Wings of Love” at S$22/-each (inclusive of postage). The proceeds will be used under our Medical Subsidy Scheme to subsidise the drugs and treatments of low-income patients.
