HANSEL has had two surgeries on a painful broken foot and is frightened, sore, and confused. Please help us cover his medical treatment and keep him safe and comfortable.
At only 10 months old, our little Hansel has been through a lot. A shy mountain dog, he is frightened easily, and needs time to build trust. Confusion was brought into his life recently when is long-term foster family had to go overseas for a family emergency. While settling into his new foster home, Hansel got spooked by a sound and jumped off a 2-foot platform, breaking his foot. His first surgery went well and a metal plate was inserted into his leg. He was prescribed cage rest to heal. However, never having been in a cage before, Hansel panicked and broke the plate while trying to dig for freedom. A second surgery was needed to fix the damage he had done to his leg. Now, Hansel is still recovering at the veterinary clinic, under strict cage rest, pain medication, and sedation when needed to ensure he does not injure himself further. Our little boy is scared, confused and in pain, but he is very good hands.
Of course, good hands come at a price, and we are truly struggling to cover Hansel's medical costs which are running into the HK$ 50,000s. Taking him from the clinic now is too risky as if he panics again, he may permanently damage his leg and drive the costs up even higher. Keeping him there safely is also a challenge as the bill gets higher every day.
