Tahan – Mulu KLIMB – Fight Against Cancer

As long as cancer is here, we will quit at never. This 24th August until 7th September, 16 climbers from MAKNA (Majlis Kanser Nasional) will embark on an expedition to conquer the peak of Gunung Tahan and Gunung Mulu. Ultimately, the climb is no comparison to the years-long battle with cancer faced by cancer patients. Nevertheless, the thriving mountain symbolically represents the pain and challenges undergone by patients; and to reach its summit depicts how they bravely overcome the ordeal.

The fight against cancer is a long and winding road especially for the underprivileged. As such, Mr. Wong Kok Keong is one of them. It has been really tough for him trying to survive cancer at the age of 64. Diagnosed with Stage 4 Hard Palate Cancer, he was forced to quit his job due to his deteriorating health thus leaving him with no income. Alas, he is now faced with not only health problems but also financial issues. Thankfully, through the donations received, MAKNA is able to help Mr Wong by providing financial aid as well as several supplies of supplementary milk. With the assistance, he shall be able to complete the cancer treatment and focus on his recovery.

Therefore, we intend to raise some funds for cancer patients through our climb. This is one of our initiatives to ensure we can help many more underprivileged cancer patients like Mr. Wong. Your donation will also greatly boost our spirits, subsequently helping us to complete our climb with vigour and courage.
