My Story

Hello,

My name is Britny Wong. I have just finished my second year of Pharmacy at University of Nottingham, UK. During this year's summer vacation, I have decided to volunteer with AIESEC Taylor's University to fundraise for an event named Here 4 you (H4Y). The cause of this event is to raise awareness for cancer. 

AIESEC is a non-governmental, and non-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural internships, and global volunteer exchange. Its purpose is to create peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential. 

This project is to support National Cancer Society Malaysia in the fight against cancer. Cancer is the fourth leading cause of death in Malaysia. A lot of families struggle with the cost of treatments, screenings and some cases are discovered too late due to being unable to get annual screenings and tests because of financial struggles.

The NCSM provides daily services and the funds are distributed amongst them. These incudes: 
  1. Providing nuclear imaging services at a highly subsidised rate.
  2. Providing ‘a home away from home’ for underprivileged child cancer patients – and their caregivers from outside of Kuala Lumpur.
  3. Reaching out to the underprivileged communities and educate them on cancer prevention and early detection.
  4. Providing support and cancer information to patients, survivors, caregivers, and the public.

Goal Breakdown

Goal 1 - Providing ‘a home away from home’ for underprivileged child cancer patient – and their caregivers from outside of Kuala Lumpur. 

Goal 2 - Providing highly subsidised screening for the public and free screening for the underprivileged.

Goal 3 - Providing nuclear imaging services at a highly subsidised rate.
